14, Checking System For Fault Codes


1. Connect diagnostic read-out tool to engine test connector.
2. Disconnect and connect battery electrical connector.
3. Crank engine for approximately 7 seconds, then position ignition switch in RUN for approximately 5 seconds. After ignition switch has been in the RUN position for 5 seconds, place ignition switch in OFF.
4. Place system in diagnostic mode and note displayed fault codes.
5. If fault codes 88 or 00 (system power circuits) are not displayed, proceed to Test 15.
6. If fault codes 88, 11 (distributor pick-up circuit), 12 and 55 are indicated, proceed to Test 16.
7. If fault codes 88, 12, 42 (auto shut down relay pull in coil circuit) and 55 or 88, 12, 26, 42 and 55 are indicated, proceed to Test 17.
8. If fault codes 88, 11, 12, 22, 24 and 55 (sensor ground circuit) are indicated, Check wiring from logic module white electrical connector terminal No. 25 for open circuit.
9. If fault codes 88, 12, 26 (auto shut down relay output circuit) and 55 are indicated, replace [1][2]power module.
10. If codes 88, 12 and 55 (no fault codes) are indicated, check wiring from [1][2]power module 10 terminal connector pin 6 to ignition coil and fuel pump for an open circuit.
