Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Service and Repair

The coolant temperature sensor is located in the thermostat housing.

Warning: Avoid coolant contact with accessory drive belts or pulleys. Flush any spilled coolant with water.

1. Drain coolant from cylinder block by removing drain plug, located behind and below exhaust manifold.
2. Disconnect coolant temperature sensor electrical connector, then remove sensor.
3. Reverse procedure to install.

Note: Manufacturer recommends using a mixture of 50% antifreeze and 50% water.

4. Refill cooling system, bleed through vent plug until mixture reaches vent hole, then install and tighten plug. Continue to fill until system is full.
