Shifter A/T: Service and Repair



CAUTION: Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Be careful not to subject the SRS - ECU to any shocks during removal and installation of the gearshift mechanism.

REMOVAL
1. Remove center dash trim panel.
2. Remove floor console top panel assembly.
3. Remove floor console assembly.
4. Remove console side covers.
5. Remove the gearshift cable retaining clip off of the gearshift assembly.
6. Remove the shifter cable end from the gearshift mechanism.
7. Remove the shifter / interlock cable snap pin.
8. Remove the cable core end from the cam of the shifter mechanism.
9. Remove the shift lock cable connector nut at the base of the gearshift mechanism.
10. Disconnect the Overdrive "off" switch position indicator light connector.
11. Remove shifter cable from shifter lever mechanism.

INSTALLATION
For installation, reverse removal steps. Tighten the nuts at the base of the gearshift mechanism to 11 Nm (8.3 ft. lbs.). Refer to Cable Adjustment for cable adjustment procedure.
