No Cluster IFR Message
NAME OF CODENo Cluster IFR Message
NOTE: This code becomes active and stored as soon as the malfunction is detected.
WHEN MONITORED
Continuously when the ignition is on.
SET CONDITION
If the ACM fails to see the IFR message from the cluster for 5 continuous seconds the code will be set.
THEORY OF OPERATION
The ACM instructs the cluster to turn the warning lamp on or off one time per second. Every time the airbag control module (ACM) sends a message to the cluster, the cluster must respond with a message acknowledging receiving the ACM message. This is called an in-frame response (IFR). The fault occurs when the cluster either does not respond to the ACM message or the response is incorrect.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
- Faulty instrument cluster circuit board
- Faulty airbag control module
- Any PCI bus failure (may be viewed in stored codes once bus is repaired)
