Checking Clearances

1. Follow the procedures outlined in Connecting Rod Bearing for Measuring Main Bearing and Connecting Rod Bearing Clearances.
2. Tighten nuts to 51 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).

Checking Connection Rod Bearing Clearance:

3. Remove connecting rod cap and measure Plastigage.

CAUTION: Do not rotate crankshaft or the Plastigage may be smeared.

Checking Connection Rod Side Clearance:

Using a feeler gauge, check connecting rod side clearance.
