OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves installing rivet nuts in the seat back(s).
MODELS:
1996 - 1999 (NS) Town & Country/Caravan/Voyager
1996 - 1999 (GS) Chrysler Voyager (International Market)
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The assist handle on back of passenger front seat is loose or pulled out of the seat back.
DIAGNOSIS:
Inspect the passenger seat back assist handle; if it is loose or pulled out of the seat back perform the Repair Procedure.

EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:
25/64 in. drill bit
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
THIS REPAIR IS COMPATIBLE WITH DAIMLERCHRYSLER'S MOBILE SERVICE PROGRAM AND DOES NOT REQUIRE HOISTS OR OTHER FULL SERVICE FACILITY SPECIAL EQUIPMENT.
1. Remove the two plastic plugs from assist handle on the seat back.
2. Remove the assist handle from the seat back
3. Cut the retaining washers off of the assist handle attaching screws. Remove the screws from the handle and discard the screws and washers.
4. Drill the two inboard holes in the seat back, (the holes that the screws came out of not the locating pin holes) with a 25/64 in. drill bit. Use a drill stop to prevent drilling any deeper than 1/8 in.
5. Install a rivet nut into each hole drilled in step 3 using the tool and instructions supplied in kit.
6. Attach the assist handle to the seat back with the screws provided in the kit. Torque the screws to 4-5 Nm (36-44 in. lbs.)
7. Install the plastic trim plugs into the assist handle.
8. Vacuum up the metal shaving created by the drilling process.
