Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

Service Procedure

1. Unfold both integrated child seats and remove both bench seat head rests.

2. Disengage the five push-in fasteners holding the upper trim and bolster to the top of each child seat module.

3. Remove the four (4) screws (two per seat) holding the top of each child seat module to the seat back frame upper rail (Figure 1).

4. Rotate the top of each child seat module forward and inspect the routing of the upper shoulder belt webbing for each child seat:

^ If the webbing on all four shoulder belts (two shoulder belts for each child seat), is routed OVER THE TOP OF THE METAL REINFORCEMENT BAR, THE WEBBING IS ROUTED PROPERLY (Figure 2). Proceed with Step 6.

^ If the webbing on ANY of the four shoulder belts is routed UNDER THE METAL REINFORCEMENT BAR, THE WEBBING IS MISROUTED AND MUST BE REPOSITIONED. Proceed with Step 5.

5. TO REPOSITION THE CHILD SEAT SHOULDER BELT WEBBING:

a. Remove the two screws retaining the metal reinforcement bar to the top of the child seat module.

c. Reinstall the metal reinforcement bar and retaining screws into the top of the child seat module and torque screws to 8 in-lbs (1 N.m).

CAUTION:
DO NOT OVER TORQUE SCREWS AS THIS MAY CAUSE THREADS TO STRIP.

d. Repeat Step 5 to reposition the shoulder belt webbing on the other child seat if necessary.

6. Rotate the top of each child seat module rearward and install the four (4) screws (two per seat) holding the top of each child seat module to the seat back frame upper rail. Torque screws to 70 in-lbs (8 N.m) (Figure 1).

CAUTION:
DO NOT OVER TORQUE SCREWS AS THIS MAY CAUSE THREADS TO STRIP.

7. Attach the upper trim and bolster to the top of each child seat module by engaging the five push-in fasteners.

8. Install both bench seat head rests.

9. Check both integrated child seats for proper operation.
