Checking Clearances

Connecting Rod Clearance

Checking Connecting Rod Bearing Clearence:





1. Follow the procedures outlined in the Standard Service Information for Measuring Main Bearing and Connecting Rod Bearing Clearances. Refer to Connecting Rod Specification Chart.
2. Tighten nuts to 51 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).
3. Remove connecting rod cap and measure Plastigage.

CAUTION: Do not rotate crankshaft or the Plastigage may be smeared.

Connecting Rod Side Clearance

Checking Connecting Connecting Rod Side Clearence:





Using a feeler gauge, check connecting rod side clearance. Refer to Specifications Chart.
