EGR Tube: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
The EGR tube attaches to the intake manifold plenum

Fig.1 EGR Tube Stud Bolts:




1. Remove screws attaching EGR tube to intake manifold.
2. Remove EGR tube to EGR valve screws.

3. Remove EGR tube. Clean gasket surfaces. Discard old gasket. If necessary, clean EGR passages. Do not loose the seal on EGR tube at intake manifold.

INSTALLATION
The EGR tube attaches to the intake manifold plenum.
1. Loosely install the EGR tube and fasteners with new gaskets and seal in the proper location and the small lip facing the end of the tube.
2. Tighten the EGR tube to intake manifold plenum 6 mm screw to 11 N.m (97 in. lbs) torque and 8 mm screw to 19 N.m (165 in. lbs) torque. TORQUE FOR THE 8 MM IS CRITICAL TO THE FUNCTION OF THE THROTTLE BODY ISOLATION FEATURE.
3. Tighten the EGR tube to EGR valve screws to 11 N.m (97 in. lbs.) torque.

NOTE: Make sure that the hoses are routed away from the hot EGR tube and Valve and clipped.
