Vehicle Lifting: Service and Repair

WARNING: THE HOISTING AND JACK LIFTING POINTS PROVIDED ARE FOR A COMPLETE VEHICLE. WHEN THE ENGINE, TRANSAXLE OR REAR SUSPENSION IS REMOVED FROM A VEHICLE, THE CENTER OF GRAVITY IS ALTERED MAKING SOME HOISTING CONDITIONS UNSTABLE. PROPERLY SUPPORT OR SECURE VEHICLE TO HOISTING DEVICE WHEN THESE CONDITIONS EXIST.

CAUTION: Do not position hoisting device on suspension components, damage to vehicle can result.

Two Post Swing Arm Hoists

Fig.5 Hoist Locations:

Front Hoist Locations are marked as Locations A and B. Either are acceptable (Fig. 5).

Fig.6 Hoist Clearance:

Fig.7 Hoist Clearance:

Locations A is underneath the engine crossmember and position B is underneath the main side rails. Location B requires a flip-up pad to ensure clearance between the hoist arm and the body panels (Fig. 6) and (Fig. 7). Use the location that best accommodates your hoist.

Rear Hoist Locations are marked as Location C (Fig. 5). This is located underneath the main side rails just forward of the rear wheel opening.

For I-Beam Hoists
Use the same locations as specified for the Two Post Swing Arm Hoists. However, the front tires MUST be rolled onto shallow ramps that provide the necessary clearances between the front grille and the hoist.
