Clutch: Service and Repair

CLUTCH COVER

REMOVAL
1. Remove the transmission.
2. Loosen the bolts (1) on the clutch cover.





3. Mark the relation of the clutch cover to the flywheel.

Note: Remove clutch cover bolts 1 to 1 1/2 turns at a time.

4. Remove the bolts (1) on the clutch cover.





5. Remove the clutch cover (1).

INSTALLATION





1. If the clutch cover is to be reused, adjustment is required. Use an old release bearing or a length of pipe to release diaphragm pressure. Set the adjusting ring to the mark as shown.





2. Position the clutch disc and clutch cover on the flywheel.
3. Loosely install the clutch cover bolts (1).





4. Install a universal clutch alignment tool (1).
5. Align the clutch disc.

Note: Tighten the clutch cover bolts 1 to 1 1/2 turns at a time.





6. Tighten the clutch cover bolts (1) until all bolts are fully seated. Tighten to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).





7. Remove the clutch alignment tool (1).
8. Install the transmission.
