Wiper Linkage Contacts MAP Sensor Wiring

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves repositioning and securing the MAP sensor wiring.

PERFORM THIS BULLETIN ON ALL SUBJECT MODELS.

2005 (LX) 300/Magnum

NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles equipped with a 5.7L engine (Sale Code EZB) built prior to April 14, 2004 (0414XX).

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

During windshield wiper operation, the wiper linkage may contact and move the MAP sensor wiring. Overtime, the movement of the wire(s) may cause a wire(s) to break. If a MAP sensor wire(s) is broken, the MIL light would be illuminated and the following Diagnostic Trouble Code(s) (DTC) would be set P0106, P0107 and/or P0108.

DIAGNOSIS:

Turn on the windshield wipers and visually inspect the MAP sensor wiring and wiper linkage for adequate clearance (view from the passenger side of the engine compartment). If there is no tie strap securing the MAP sensor wiring away from the wiper linkage, perform the Repair Procedure.





PARTS REQUIRED:

REPAIR PROCEDURE:





1. Install a tie strap, pin 04856500 or equivalent, to secure the MAP sensor wiring to the purge solenoid vacuum line and away from the wiper linkage (Fig. 1).

NOTE:
Do not position the tie strap and wiring so that there is a strain on the wires going into the back of the MAP insulator/connector.
