Duct-Instrument Panel Demister
DUCT-INSTRUMENT PANEL DEMISTERNOTE: Driver side demister duct shown in illustration. Passenger side demister duct similar.
REMOVAL
WARNING: ON VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH AIRBAGS, DISABLE THE AIRBAG SYSTEM BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY STEERING WHEEL, STEERING COLUMN, OR INSTRUMENT PANEL COMPONENT DIAGNOSIS OR SERVICE. DISCONNECT AND ISOLATE THE NEGATIVE BATTERY (GROUND) CABLE, THEN WAIT TWO MINUTES FOR THE AIRBAG SYSTEM CAPACITOR TO DISCHARGE BEFORE PERFORMING FURTHER DIAGNOSIS OR SERVICE. THIS IS THE ONLY SURE WAY TO DISABLE THE AIRBAG SYSTEM. FAILURE TO TAKE THE PROPER PRECAUTIONS COULD RESULT IN ACCIDENTAL AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH.
1. Remove the instrument panel top cover.
2. Remove the four screws (1) that secure each demister duct (2) to top the instrument panel (3), as required
3. Disconnect each demister duct from the defroster duct (4), as required.
4. Remove demister duct(s) from the instrument panel.
INSTALLATION
1. Position the demister duct(s) (2) to the top of the instrument panel (3).
2. Connect each demister duct to the defroster duct (4), as required.
3. Install the four screws (1) that secure each demister duct to the instrument panel, as required. Tighten the screws to 2 N.m (17 in. lbs.).
4. Install the instrument panel top cover.
