Control Assembly: Description and Operation

A/C HEATER CONTROL

DESCRIPTION
Both the manual temperature control (MTC) and the automatic temperature control (ATC) heating-A/C systems use electrical controls. These controls provide the vehicle operator with a number of setting options to help control the climate and comfort within the vehicle.

Manual A/C-Heater Control:

Automatic A/C-Heater Control:

The A/C-heater control for the MTC system or ATC system is located to the right of the instrument cluster on the instrument panel.

The MTC A/C-heater control panel contains a rotary- type temperature control, a rotary-type mode control, a rotary-type blower motor speed control and two push-button switches. One push-button switch is used to activate the rear window defogger (EBL) system and the other switch is used to turn the A/C on and off.

The ATC A/C-heater control contains a push-button mode control, a push-button temperature control and a rotary-type blower motor speed control. The ATC A/C-heater control also has push-button switches to activate the rear window defogger (EBL) system and to turn the A/C on and off.

The A/C-heater control cannot be repaired and, if faulty or damaged, it must be replaced. The illumination lamps for the A/C-heater control are available for service replacement.
