OPERATION
The power top switch status is transmitted over the Local Interface Network (LIN) data bus circuit to the instrument cluster (sometimes referred to as the Cab Compartment Node). Once the message is received by the CCN it is then sent to the driver window module via the Controller Area Network (CAN) data bus circuit. When a top operation message is received by the driver window module, it will ground the respective relay control circuit which in turn will operate the motor. If the convertible top switch is pressed and held to the down position second detent, it will command both window modules to drop all windows to the fully down position. The windows cannot be raised when the convertible top switch is in the top down position.
When the switch is held in the top up position and all four windows are fully up, the modules will lower the respective front window 40mm (1.5in.), lower the respective rear window for 0.52 seconds (approx. 55mm (2in.)) and the driver window module will ground the top up relay control circuit. Once the top is back up the windows will not raise automatically. When the top switch is pressed in either position, the driver window regulator module will ground the respective relay control circuit for a maximum of 20 seconds. The window regulator module monitors vehicle speed and if the speed is over 15 mph, the top will not operate. Description for additional information on the window regulator module.
