Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

EGR Tube - Installation

3.5L

NOTE: Install new rubber silicone seals on intake manifold end of EGR tube any time it is removed from the intake manifold.

1. Install new gasket between upper tube and intake manifold.
2. Install upper tube into the intake manifold.

3. Verify the upper EGR tube seal (1) is positioned correctly on the EGR tube assembly.

NOTE: The EGR tube flange does not need to be flush with the intake manifold to be sealed. The EGR tube flange can be up to 2mm from intake manifold and still be sealed. This design allows the EGR tube position to vary with the tolerance stack up and remain properly sealed.

4. Install the EGR tube (3), and verify the seal is correctly positioned in the intake manifold. Tighten tube bolts to 12 Nm (106 in. lbs.).
5. Install new gasket between the EGR valve and tube and install bolts.
6. Tighten the upper tube to EGR valve bolts to 6 Nm (53 in. lbs.) torque.
