Camshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair

Removal Procedure




1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the spark plug cover.
3. Disconnect the sensor electrical connector.




3. Remove the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump.
4. Remove the timing belt upper cover. Refer to Engine Mechanical.
5. Remove the camshaft position (CMP) sensor bolts.
6. Remove the CMP sensor from the top.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the CMP sensor and bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the camshaft position bolts to 106 lb.in (12 N.m).




2. Install the timing belt upper cover. Refer to Engine Mechanical.
3. Install the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump.
4. Connect the sensor electrical connector.
5. Install the spark plug cover.
6. Connect the negative battery cable.
