Throttle Position Sensor: Testing and Inspection

1. Disconnect throttle position sensor connector.
2. Measure resistance between terminals 31 and 29, Fig. 15. Throttle position sensor should be replaced if resistance is not 4.25-8.25 ohms.
3. Measure resistance between terminals 31 and 30.
4. With throttle valve closed fully resistance should be 3.5-10.3 ohms.
5. With throttle valve opened fully resistance should be .3-6.3 ohms.
6. Measure resistance between terminals 32 and 29.
7. With throttle valve closed fully resistance should be 350 ohms or less.
8. With throttle valve opened more than 1.5° resistance should be 1M ohms.
9. Replace throttle position sensor if specifications are not met.
10. Perform TPS circuit test. (1.0L Engine)
