Evaporator Core: Service and Repair


1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then discharge refrigeration system.
2. Disconnect suction tube from cooling unit outlet fitting and liquid tube from cooling unit inlet fitting. Cap open fittings immediately to keep moisture out of system.
3. Remove grommets from inlet and outlet fittings.
4. Remove glove box and glove box reinforcement.
5. Disconnect connectors of A/C harness.
6. On vehicles with automatic seat belts, remove instrument attaching bolts.
7. On all models, lift up instrument panel to facilitate evaporator case removal.
8. Remove evaporator case attaching bolts, then evaporator case.
9. Separate evaporator case halves, then remove evaporator core.
10. Reverse procedure to install.
