Idle Speed

1. Connect tachometer to the engine. Never allow the tachometer terminal to touch ground as it could result in damage to the igniter and/or ignition coil. Confirm the compatibly of your tachometer before using.
2. Remove the engine check terminal cap.
3. Connect the test harness tool No. 09991-87702-000 to the check terminal and connect the brown test terminal with black ground terminal, Fig. 1.
4. Remove idle adjusting screw cap from throttle body.
5. Race engine to 2500 RPM for one minute.
6. Adjust idle speed to 800 RPM on manual transmission models and 850 RPM on automatic transmission models.
7. Remove test harness from the check connector.
8. Race engine to 2000 RPM 2 or 3 times.
9. Ensure engine idle speed is still within specifications.
10. Install check terminal and idle adjusting screw cap.
