Starter Relay: Testing and Inspection

Relay Continuity
1. Using a suitable ohmmeter, ensure resistance between terminals 1 and 2, Fig. 4, is 40-100 ohms.
2. Ensure no continuity exists between terminals 1 and 3, 1 and 4, 2 and 3 and 2 and 4, Fig. 4.
3. If continuity exists, replace relay.

Relay Operation
Apply battery voltage across terminals 1 and 2, then ensure there is continuity between terminals 3 and 4. If not, replace relay.
