Subject: California Emissions Recall #388 Engine Timing and EGR System

Models: 1982 Model Year 2.2L Carbureted Engine-Equipped Passenger Cars Sold in California:
- Plymouth Horizon, TC3 & Reliant
- Dodge Omni, 024, Aries & 400
- Chrysler LeBaron


The subject vehicles may emit oxides of nitrogen in excess of the California Emissions Standards.

To ensure compliance to the Emissions Standards, the following service procedures are required:

^ Retard basic engine timing.

^ Inspect EGR system and clean if necessary.

Details of this service action are explained in the following sections. As an additional service aid, a videotape has been made to demonstrate the service procedure. This
feature is included with the November M.T.S.C. Program.
