Choke Temperature Control Switch: Testing and Inspection
1. Before starting engine, disconnect both electrical connectors from the control switch on 1973 vehicles, and only the "BAT" connector from the control switch on 1974-82 vehicles.2. Connect a test light to the load (small) terminal of the control switch and to ground.
3. Start engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature.
4. Then apply 12 volts to the "BAT" terminal of the control switch. The test light should light, it may light for only a few seconds or it may remain lit for a longer duration but must not remain lit for more than 5 minutes. If the above does not occur, the control switch is defective and must be replaced.
