Intake Manifold: Service and Repair


1. Disconnect battery ground cable and drain coolant system.
2. Remove air cleaner and disconnect all vacuum and fuel lines, and electrical connectors from carburetor.
3. Disconnect throttle linkage, and remove power steering pump drive belt.
4. Disconnect power brake vacuum hose from carburetor, if equipped.
5. Disconnect hose from water crossover, then raise and support vehicle and disconnect exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold.
6. Remove power steering pump and position aside, then remove intake manifold support bracket.
7. Remove EGR tube, then remove intake manifold retaining screws.
8. Lower vehicle and remove intake manifold.
9. Remove exhaust manifold retaining nuts, then the exhaust manifold.
10. Reverse procedure to install.
