REPAIR PROCEDURE

This repair replaces the choke element with one that has a different calibration. The choke control switch on the intake manifold is by-passed, allowing battery voltage to the choke heater.

1. Remove air cleaner.

2. Place cam follower on highest step of fast idle cam.

3. Drill out three choke cover retaining rivets, using a #21 (.159") drill. Only drill enough to remove rivet heads (Figure 1).

4. Remove choke cover and discard.

5. Drive out remainder of rivets from choke housing, using a suitable punch and small hammer.
6. Install the supplied choke cover and coil assembly in the choke housing. Make sure that the coil tang engages the inside coil pick-up lever and that the index notch is aligned.
