How to Read Harness Configuration Diagrams

1. Classification Symbols of wiring Harness Configuration Diagrams
A wiring harness configuration diagram shows in a really arranged style the laid condition of each wiring harness. The wiring harnesses are shown, classified as follows, depending on their locations.

2. Connector Identification Symbols
A connector identification symbol consists of a wiring harness location classification symbol corresponding to each wiring harness location and number peculiar to the connector. In case a connector is shown in duplication for the sake of convenience in organization of a wiring harness configuration diagram, the connector identification symbol is given together with that in parentheses by using a classification symbol of other location. In such a case, both are the same connector.

3. Identification of Connectors Differing with Vehicle Specifications
Those wiring harness connectors for device or wiring harness connection whose shape and/or location could differ due to different vehicle specifications are given a vehicle specification-dependent connector identification symbol (lower case alphabet) after a serial number of connector identification symbol to identify its dependence on vehicle specification. For detailed information on the vehicle specification-dependent connector identification symbols refer to "HOW TO READ CIRCUIT DIAGRAMS BY FUNCTIONS".

4. Indication of Standard Mounting Positions of Harnesses
The standard mounting position of harness is indicated by an asterisk (*) in the wiring harness configuration diagram. If full expression of standard mounting position in the wiring harness configuration diagram is impossible. a detail drawing is added for supplementary explanation.

5. Indication of Centralized Ground Points
The approximate position of a centralized ground point is shown in a wiring harness configuration diagram and supplementary explanations arc given in a separate detail drawing. The centralized ground identification symbol consists of a wiring harness location symbol (A thru D) and an alphabetical character (upper case) in that order.
