Checking the Basics
The driveability test procedure is made up of four categories. They are as follow:
1. VISUAL INSPECTION
2. NO START TESTS
3. DRIVEABILITY TEST COLD
4. DRIVEABILITY TEST WARM
It is not necessary to perform all the categories for every driveability problem. Selection of what category to use will be determined by the customer complaint, was the engine cold or was it warm when the problem occurred?
Do not be concerned about the actual symptom. Since one or more of the engine control systems can produce the same symptom, just find out when the engine did not run right.
