Cruise Control: Adjustments

LOCK-IN SCREW ADJUSTMENT
Lock-in accuracy can be affected by poor engine performance, overloaded vehicle, or improper slack in throttle control cable.

1. If the above note has been taken into consideration and vehicle speed still varies or drops more than 2 - 3 mph when speed control is activated, proceed as follows:
a. Turn lock-in adjusting screw counterclockwise approximately 1/4 turn for every 1 mph out of adjustment.
2. If vehicle speed increases more than 2 - 3 mph when speed control is activated, proceed as follows:
a. Turn lock-in adjusting screw clockwise approximately 1/4 turn for every 1 mph out of adjustment. The above adjustments should not exceed two turns in either direction, or damage to unit may occur.

SPEED CONTROL CABLE ADJUSTMENT
1. Start and operate engine until normal operating temperature is reached.
2. Remove clevis retaining clip.
3. Clearance between the throttle stud and cable clevis should be 3/32
inch.
4. To adjust, remove cable retaining clip at throttle bracket.
5. Pull all slack out of cable using a 3/32 inch drill to adjust clearance.
6. Do not pull cable excessively, that it moves throttle away from curb idle position.
7. Install cable retaining clip onto throttle bracket.
8. Tighten clip at cable support bracket to 45 inch lbs.
