Engine Control Module: Service and Repair

CAUTION: To prevent possible Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) damage to the internal components of the computer or to other delicate integrated circuits, DO NOT touch these components without the use of wrist ground straps which have a minimum resistance of 1 Megohm.

Removal/Installation

1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
2. Loosen the 60-way electrical connector from the SBEC II.
3. Remove the electrical connector from the SBEC II.
4. Remove engine controller mounting screws.
5. Remove the SBEC II from the vehicle.
6. Place the new SBEC II in the vehicle and connect the electrical connector.
7. Install the mounting screws.
8. Install the battery negative connector.
