Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

MANIFOLD AIR/FUEL TEMPERATURE (MAT) SENSOR

Temperature-to-Resistance Values
(Approximate)

THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR (TPS) [1] .75 to .85
ENGINE SPEED SENSOR (CPS) 200 +/- 75 ohms [2]
OXYGEN SENSOR (O2) HEATING ELEMENT less than 10 ohms
RELAY (MECHANICAL) 70 to 80 ohms [3]
RELAY (DIODE) 81 to 91 ohms [3]

[1] This is the desired ratio between input and output voltages of the TPS. EXAMPLE: If the input voltage is 5 volts and the output voltage is 3.75 volts; divide 3.75 by 5 (3.75/5 = .75 or 75%).

[2] Engine Speed Sensor resistance check is made between terminals A and B, as they are marked on the connector.

[3] Resistance measurements taken between terminals 85 and 86 as marked on the relay.
