Camshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair

Camshaft Sensor:

REMOVAL


1. Disconnect cam position sensor lead wiring harness connector.
2. Remove camshaft position sensor retaining bolt and remove sensor.



INSTALLATION


1. If the removed sensor is to be reinstalled, clean off old spacer on the sensor face. A new spacer must be attached to the face of the sensor before it is installed. If the sensor is to be replaced, confirm that the paper spacer is attached to the face.
2. Loosely install the cam sensor to the front of the head.
3. Push the sensor so that the paper spacer makes contact with the cam timing gear. Hold in this position, and torque the retaining bolt to 145 lb.in. (16.3 Nm.).
4. Connect camshaft reference sensor lead wire at wiring harness connector
