Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Description and Operation

PURPOSE
The coolant temperature sensor used with automatic transmission applications monitors engine coolant temperature. This input to the controller is used to inhibit transmission upshift into overdrive when the coolant temperature is below 60 °F (16 °C).
