Engine Control Module: Service and Repair


NOTE:
The engine control unit is located in the engine compartment behind the battery and under the left front fender.

Engine Compartment Relays:






REMOVAL

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable at battery.

2. Disconnect the positive battery cable at battery.

3. Remove battery holddown clamps and remove battery.

Engine Controller:






4. Remove 60-way electrical connector from the control unit.

5. Remove the three engine control unit-to-mounting bracket bolts. Do not remove the engine controller mounting bracket from the fender.

6. Remove control unit from vehicle.


INSTALLATION

1. Check pins in 60-way control unit connector for damage. Repair as necessary.

2. Position engine control unit and install mounting bolts.

^ Tighten bolts to 4 Nm (35 in. lbs.) torque.

3. Connect 60-way electrical connector to the control unit.

4. Install battery.

5. Connect battery cables to battery (positive cable first).
