Engine Control Module: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

The engine controller is located in the engine compartment behind the battery and under the left front fender.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable at battery.

2. Disconnect the positive battery cable at battery.

3. Remove battery holddown clamps and remove battery.

4. Remove 60-way electrical connector from the engine controller.

5. Remove the three engine controller-to-mounting bracket bolts. Do not remove the engine controller mounting bracket from the fender.

6. Remove controller from vehicle.


INSTALLATION

1. Check pins in 60-way controller connector for damage. Repair as necessary.

2. Position engine controller and install mounting bolts.

^ Tighten bolts to 4 Nm (35 in. lbs.) torque.

3. Connect 60-way electrical connector to the engine controller.

4. Install battery.

5. Connect battery cables to battery (positive cable first).
