Cruise

When the engine is at operating temperature, this is a Closed Loop mode. During cruising speed, the following inputs are received by the engine controller:

- Coolant temperature

- Manifold absolute pressure

- Engine speed

- Throttle position

- Exhaust gas oxygen content

- Park/neutral switch (auto trans)

- A/C control positions

- Brake switch

- Vehicle distance (speed) sensor

- Speed control

- Brake switch

- Overdrive override switch

The engine controller provides a ground path for the injectors to precisely control injectors pulse width. On 5.9L engines, the injectors are fired 4 times per engine revolution. The engine controller adjusts engine idle speed, throttle stop angle, and ignition timing. The engine controller adjusts the air fuel mixture ratio according to the oxygen content in the exhaust gas.
