Fuel Filter: Service and Repair

Fuel Tank, Filter, And Chassis Line Routing:

Converter Support Bracket:

WARNING: The fuel system is under constant pressure, even when the engine is OFF. Always release fuel pressure before servicing any fuel system component.

REMOVAL

1. Release fuel system pressure.
2. Remove catalytic converter support bracket.
3. Remove exhaust pipe heat shield.
4. Loosen inlet and outlet hose clamps on filter. Use an appropriate shop towel to absorb any leakage, and remove hoses from filter. Discard used clamps.
5. Remove filter mounting bolt, and remove filter assembly from frame rail.

Fuel Filter:

INSTALLATION

1. Install hoses on filter, with new clamps, and torque to 1 Nm (10 in-lbs).
2. Install fuel filter on frame rail and tighten mounting bolt to 75 in-lbs (8 Nm).
3. Install exhaust pipe heat shield.
4. Install converter support bracket.
5. Using scan tool [1], activate fuel pump to pressurize system, and check for leaks.
