Ignition Lock: Service and Repair


Removal

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. On models with tilt steering, remove tilt lever.





3. On all models, remove upper and lower covers, then ignition switch mounting screws using a suitable Torx tool.
4. Remove switch from column, then seven terminal connector from switch.
5. Remove key in switch and halo light four terminal connector from ignition switch.
6. Remove key cylinder from switch as follows:
a. Insert key and ensured switch is in lock position.









b. Using a small screwdriver, depress key cylinder retaining pin flush with cylinder surface.
c. Rotate key clockwise to Off position, this will unseat cylinder from ignition switch.
d. With cylinder in unseated position, rotate key counterclockwise to lock position, remove key, then key cylinder.

Installation

1. Install electrical connector to switch, then mount switch to column.





2. Ensure shifter is in park position. Park lock dowel pin in switch must engage with column park lock slider linkage.
3. Install switch attaching screws, then torque attaching nuts to 17 inch lbs.
4. On tilt models, install tilt lever.
5. On all models, connect battery ground cable, then with key cylinder and ignition in lock position, insert cylinder into ignition switch assembly until it bottoms.
6. Insert key, push inward on key cylinder, then rotate key clockwise to end of travel.
7. Then check each position for proper operation
