EVAP Purge Solenoid Circuit

WHEN MONITORED
With the ignition key on and the engine running.

SET CONDITION
The evaporative solenoid control circuit is not in the expected state when requested to operate by the PCM.

THEORY OF OPERATION
The evaporative solenoid duty cycle (on time) is is varied by the PCM according to operating conditions.

The PCM looks for current changes while actuating the solenoid. If there are no current changes for a set time, the PCM sets a trouble code.

PROBABLE CAUSES
- Open or shorted control circuit
- Open fused ignition switch Output circuit
- Open or shorted solenoid control coil
- PCM failure
