Distributor Cap: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Remove distributor cap retaining screws and move cap to one side. (Leave plug wires attached.)

Rotor Locking Screw:





2. Remove rotor screw and rotor.

INSPECTION
1. Inspect cap and rotor for signs of flash over, cracks or burned terminals.
2. Check carbon button condition.
3. Replace cap and rotor if any problems are visible.

INSTALLATION
1. Install rotor and tighten screw.
2. Install cap and tighten hold down screws.
3. Remove one plug wire at a time from old cap and install on correct tower of new cap. (Make sure all wires are seated securely.)
