Distributor: Description and Operation
Component Overview:
PURPOSE The Optical
Distributor sends engine speed, TDC, and crankshaft position signals to the Engine Control Module
(ECM).
These signals are used to control
ignition timing, fuel injection, and
idle speed.
The
distributor also distributes coil secondary voltage to the correct
spark plug cable, through rotor and
distributor cap.
