Timing Chain Replacement

REMOVAL

1. Remove crankshaft damper as outlined under "Crankshaft Damper, Replace" and front cover as outlined under "Front Cover, Replace."
2. Remove camshaft sprocket bolt, then the timing chain with crankshaft and camshaft sprockets.

INSTALLATION

1. Position camshaft and crankshaft sprockets on bench with timing marks aligned then place chain around both sprockets.

2. Rotate crankshaft and camshaft as necessary to align them with keyways in sprockets.
3. Lift sprockets and chain into position over camshaft and crankshaft, keeping sprockets tight against chain, then check timing mark alignment with a straightedge.
4. Install camshaft bolt and tighten to specifications, then install front cover as outlined under "Front Cover, Replace" and crankshaft damper as outlined under "Crankshaft Damper, Replace."
