Alternator: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then remove alternator drive belt.
2. Remove alternator pivot bolt, then remove mounting bolts.
3. Remove nuts from wiring harness hold down, battery + terminal, ground terminal and two field terminals.
4. Remove wire connectors, then alternator.
5. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Torque alternator mounting bolts and pivot bolt to 30 ft-lbs
b. Torque battery + terminal, ground terminal and wiring harness hold down nuts to 6.25 ft-lbs
c. Torque field terminal nuts to 25 in-lbs
