Receiver Dryer: Service and Repair

WARNING: Review the Service Precautions before performing the following operation.

Front
1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
2. Recover the refrigerant from the refrigerant system.
3. From the engine compartment, disconnect the refrigerant lines from the filter-drier. Install plugs in, or tape over all of the open refrigerant fittings.
4. Remove the screw that secures the filter-drier mounting strap.
5. Remove the filter-drier.
6. Reverse the removal procedures to install. Tighten the hardware as follows:
- Mounting strap screw - 4.5 N.m (40 in. lbs.).
- Refrigerant line nuts - 22.5 N.m (200 in. lbs.).
7. Evacuate the refrigerant system.
8. Charge the refrigerant system.

NOTE: If the filter-drier is replaced, add 30 ml (1 oz.) of refrigerant oil to the refrigerant system.

Rear
1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
2. Recover the refrigerant from the refrigerant system.
3. From under the vehicle, disconnect the refrigerant lines from the filter-drier. Install plugs in, or tape over all of the open refrigerant fittings.
4. Remove the screw securing the filter-drier mounting bracket.
5. Remove the filter-drier and mounting bracket assembly
6. Reverse the removal procedures to install. Tighten the hardware as follows:
- Mounting bracket screw - 4.5 N.m (40 in. lbs.).
- Refrigerant line nuts - 22.5 N.m (200 in. lbs.).
7. Evacuate the refrigerant system.
8. Charge the refrigerant system.
