Trailer Hitch: Service and Repair

TRAILER HITCH

REMOVAL

1. Raise and support the vehicle.
2. Remove the wire ties.
3. Disconnect the trailer lights electrical connector.

4. Remove the bumper bracket bolts (Fig. 7).
5. Support the hitch with a suitable lifting device and remove the frame bolts.

INSTALLATION

1. Support the trailer hitch on a suitable lifting device and raise into position on the vehicle.
2. Install the bumper bracket bolts and hand tighten.
3. Install the frame bolts and torque to 102 N.m (75 ft.lbs.).
4. Torque the bumper bracket bolts to 75 N.m (55 ft.lbs.).
5. Connect the trailer lights electrical connector.
6. Install wire ties to support trailer light harness.
