Heater Core: Service and Repair

The heater housing must be removed from the vehicle to service the heater core.

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect battery.
2. Remove heater housing from the vehicle.

Insulation Seal:

3. Remove the insulation seal from atop heater core.

Bracket Screws:

4. Remove heater core retaining screws.
5. Note the position of the heater core. The heater hose tubes are offset and can only be installed in the proper direction.

Heater Core Removal:

6. Lift heater core straight up and out of heater housing.

INSTALLATION

Heater Core Coolant Fill:

For installation, reverse the above procedures. Before connecting heater hoses, fill new heater core with coolant. This will minimize the amount of air trapped within the cooling system.
