SUBJECT:
Flash - Driveability Improvements

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves selectively erasing and reprogramming the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) with new software.

MODELS:

2004 (RG) Chrysler Voyager (International Markets)

2004 (RS) Town & Country/Caravan/Voyager

NOTE:
This bulletin applies to RS and RG vehicles equipped with a 3.3L or 3.8L engine (sales code EGA, EGH or EGM) built prior to December 10, 2003 (MDH 1210xx).

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

3.3L

^ Rough Idle after a cold engine start-up.

^ Throttle hesitation after a cold engine start-up.

^ Long crank time during hot temperature start-up.

^ Surge between 40 to 50 MPH.

^ A/C cycling too frequently in high ambient temperature above 32 C (90 F).

3.8L

^ Abrupt throttle kickdown upon initiation of cruise control resume function.

^ Long crank time during hot temperature start-up.

^ Surge between 40 to 50 MPH.

^ A/C cycling too frequently in high ambient temperature above 32 C (90 F).

DIAGNOSIS:

Using a Scan Tool (DRBIII(R)) with the appropriate Diagnostic Procedures Manual, verify all engine systems are functioning as designed. If DTCs are present record them on the repair order and repair as necessary before proceeding further with this bulletin.

If the vehicle operator describes or experiences the Symptom/Condition, perform the Repair Procedure.

NOTE:
An updated J1962 cable has been released. This cable has a red colored connector at the DRBIII(R) connection. Use this cable whenever a flash is being performed.
