Cylinder Head Assembly

Surface Variation - Head-to-Block
Cylinder head must be flat within 0.1 mm (0.004 in.)

Camshaft Sprocket-Bolt 101 Nm (75 ft. lbs.)





Exhaust Manifold to Cylinder Head-Bolts 19 Nm (175 in. lbs.)





Intake Manifold - Lower - Bolts 31 Nm (275 in. lbs.)





Intake Manifold - Upper-Bolts 31 Nm (275 in. lbs.)





Cylinder Head Bolt - Reusability
The Cylinder head bolts should be examined BEFORE reuse. If the threads are necked down, the bolts must be replaced (Figure 1).





Cylinder Head Bolt
Tighten the cylinder head bolts in the sequence shown.
First All to 34 Nm (25 ft. lbs.)
Second All to 82 Nm (60 ft. lbs.)
Third All to 82 Nm (60 ft. lbs.)
Fourth Turn an additional 1/4 Turn.





Camshaft Bearing Caps
Install right and left camshaft bearing caps No. 2 - 5 and right No. 6.
Tighten M6 fasteners to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.)
Apply Mopar(R) Gasket Maker to No. 1 and No. 6 bearing caps.
Install bearing caps and tighten M8 fasteners to 28 Nm (250 in. lbs.)
