Engine - Installation






INSTALLATION










1. Position the engine in the vehicle.
2. Install the transmission bellhousing to engine mounting bolts (3). Tighten the bolts to 41 Nm (30ft. lbs.)





3. Install the engine mount through bolts (3).










4. Install the torque convertor bolts (3).










CAUTION: The structural cover requires a specific torque sequence. Failure to follow this sequence may cause severe damage to the cover.

5. Install the structural cover Structural Dust Cover - Installation.

NOTE: New clamps must be used on exhaust manifold flanges. Failure to use new clamps may result in exhaust leaks.

6. Install the catalytic converters Catalytic Converter - Installation.
7. Connect the engine to body ground straps at the left side of the cowl.









8. Connect the ground straps (3) on the right side of the engine.










9. Connect the ground straps (3) on the left side of the engine.










10. Install the starter (2) Starter - Installation.





11. Connect the crankshaft position sensor harness connector to the crankshaft position sensor (3).
12. Install the engine block heater power cable, if equipped.





13. If equipped with four wheel drive, install the axle isolator bracket (2).
14. If equipped with four wheel drive, install the front propshaft Drive Shaft - Installation.

15. Connect the left and right oxygen sensor harness connectors to the left and right oxygen sensors.
16. Remove Engine Lift Fixture 8427.




17. Reconnect the knock sensor harness connector (3) to the engine harness connector.





18. Install the intake manifold Intake Manifold - Installation.





19. Install the fuel rail Fuel Rail - Installation.
20. Install the engine oil dipstick tube.




21. Reconnect the power brake booster vacuum hose to the vacuum port on the intake manifold and to the brake booster check valve (1).

22. Install the makeup air hoses.
23. Install the PCV hose.




24. Reconnect the Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor harness connector to the CMP sensor (3).





25. Install the Ignition Coils (1), and install the fasteners (2). Tighten to 8 Nm (70 in.lbs).




26. Connect the Harness Connectors to the Ignition Coils (1).
27. Connect the Plug Wires to the right bank of cylinders (3) and to the Ignition Coils (1).
28. Clip the Plug Wires into the Wire Looms (2).









29. Connect the Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) harness connector to the ETC (2).
30. Connect the Intake air temperature sensor (4) harness connector to the IAT (4).

31. Connect the Fuel Injector harness connectors to the fuel injectors.




32. Connect the Engine Oil Pressure Sensor harness connector (4) to the Engine Oil Pressure Sensor (2).





33. Connect the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor harness connector to the ECT (3).
34. Connect the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor harness connector to the MAP (2).










35. Install the generator (3).

36. Install the power steering pump Power Steering Pump - Installation.
37. Install the radiator/cooling module assembly Engine Cooling Radiator - Installation.
38. Connect lower radiator hose.
39. Connect upper radiator hose.
40. Install the heater hose assembly.
41. Install the coolant recovery bottle Coolant Recovery Bottle - Installation.




42. Install the A/C compressor (2) A/C Compressor - Installation.





43. Install the accessory drive belt (2) Serpentine Accessory Drive Belt - Installation.

44. Install the fan shroud with the viscous fan assembly Radiator Cooling Fan
45. Recharge the A/C system. Refrigerant System Charge.





46. Install the cowl grille (4), and cross-bar beam. Cowl Panel Cover - Installation

47. Install the air cleaner assembly Air Cleaner Body - Installation.
48. Refill the engine cooling system Service and Repair.
49. Check and fill engine oil.
50. Connect the battery negative cable.
51. Start the engine and check for leaks.
