Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

A/C And Heater Control Module - Removal

REMOVAL

WARNING:
Disable the airbag system before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to follow these instructions may result in accidental airbag deployment and possible serious or fatal injury.

1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.

2. Remove the right side instrument panel end cap.

3. Remove the glove box Instrument Panel Glove Box - Removal.

4. Loosen the two screws (1) that secure the A/C heater module (2) to the instrument panel.

NOTE:
It is not necessary to fully remove the two A/C heater module retaining screws. The instrument panel mounting holes are slotted to aid in module service.

5. Slide the A/C heater module upward to disengage the module from the two mounting slots and remove the module through the glove box opening.

6. Disconnect the wire harness connector from the A/C heater module.
