B1B97-PASSENGER SEAT TRACK POSITION SENSOR CONFIGURATION MISMATCH

For a complete wiring diagram, refer to the Wiring Information.

- When Monitored:
With the ignition on, the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) monitors the Seat Track Position Sensors (STPS) circuits.

- Set Condition:
If the ORC detects current on the Passenger Seat Track Position Sensor circuits and the ORC is not configured for STPS.

1. VERIFY ACTIVE DTC

NOTE: Make sure the battery is fully charged.

1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, read the ORC DTCs.

Does the scan tool display active B1B97-PASSENGER SEAT TRACK POSITION SENSOR CONFIGURATION MISMATCH DTC?

Yes

- Go To 2

No

- Test complete, the condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time.

2. VERIFY SHORTED R262 and R264 CIRCUITS
1. Inspect the Passenger Seat for a Passenger Seat Track position Sensor and wiring.

Is the Passenger Seat Track Position Sensor present?

Yes

- Disconnect the Passenger Seat Track Position Sensor and tape the sensor connector to the wiring harness.
- Perform the AIRBAG SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Airbag System Verification Test.

No

- Go To 3

3. INSPECT WIRING FOR DRIVER SEAT TRACK POSITION SENSOR

WARNING: Turn the ignition off, disconnect the 12-volt battery and wait two minutes before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.

1. Disconnect the ORC connectors.
2. Inspect the ORC C2 connector cavity C2-17 and C2-18 for wiring.

Are wires attached to the ORC C2 terminal C2-17 and C2-18?

Yes

- Go To 5

No

- Go To 4

4. INSPECT ORC AND ORC CONNECTORS FOR CORROSION
1. Inspect the ORC and ORC C2 connector cavity C2-17 and C2-18 for corrosion or bent terminals.

Are the terminals damaged or corroded?

Yes

- Repair or replace the terminal or connectors.
- Perform the AIRBAG SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Airbag System Verification Test.

No

- Go To 5

5. VERIFY SHORTED R262 and R264 CIRCUITS

1. Install the SRS Load Tool Adapter 8443-32-R to the ORC connectors.
2. Measure the resistance between the (R262) Driver Seat Track Position Sensor Signal cavity C2-17 and (R264) Driver Seat Track Position Sensor Supply circuit cavity C2-18 at the SRS Load Tool Adapter 8443-32-R.

Is the resistance below 10K Ohms?

Yes

- Cut the R262 and R264 circuits and tape the loose ends to the wiring harness.
- If equipped with a Passenger Seat Track Position Sensor, disconnect the Seat Track Position Sensor connector and tape the connector to the wiring harness.
- Perform the AIRBAG SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Airbag System Verification Test.

No

- WARNING: If the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) is dropped at any time, it must be replaced. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.

- Replace the ORC.
- Perform the AIRBAG SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Airbag System Verification Test.
